1. These terms
These Terms of Service (“Terms”) are an agreement between you and CRUMBS APP LIMITED (company number 17260345), registered in England & Wales, registered office Flat 2, 50 Hatton Garden, London EC1N 8YS (“Crumbs”, “we”, “us”). They govern your use of the Crumbs app and website (the “Service”).
By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you don't agree, please don't use Crumbs.
2. Who can use Crumbs
You must be 16 or over to use Crumbs. By using it, you confirm that you are.
3. Your account
- You're responsible for keeping your login details secure and for activity under your account.
- Give us accurate information and keep it up to date.
- Tell us promptly (hello@crumbsapp.co.uk) if you think someone has accessed your account without permission.
- You can delete your account at any time from within the app.
4. What Crumbs is
Crumbs helps you save, rate and organise restaurants, follow friends, plan where to eat, and discover new places. Restaurant information and recommendations can be incomplete, out of date or wrong, so always check anything important — especially allergens or dietary requirements — directly with the restaurant. Crumbs is for discovery and personal tracking; it isn't professional, dietary, or allergen advice.
5. Your content, and what's public
- You own what you create — your reviews, ratings, lists, notes, photos and plans (“Your Content”).
- Crumbs is largely public. Your profile, your reviews and ratings, and who you follow are visible to anyone. Lists can be public, followers-only or private; visit logs, private notes and plan invitees stay private. Don't put anything in a public field that you wouldn't want seen publicly.
- You grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, store, copy, display and share Your Content as needed to run the Service — for example, showing your reviews publicly or your additions to a shared list. This licence ends when you delete the content or your account, except for content you added to others' shared lists and copies that briefly remain in backups.
- You're responsible for Your Content and confirm you have the right to share it and that it doesn't break the law or these Terms.
- Reviews must reflect your genuine experiences. Fake, paid-for or misleading reviews aren't allowed (and are unlawful in the UK).
6. Acceptable use and fair use
Please don't:
- break the law, or use Crumbs to harm, harass, threaten, defame or impersonate anyone;
- post content that's unlawful, hateful, abusive, obscene, or that infringes someone's rights (including intellectual property or privacy);
- post spam or fake reviews, or manipulate ratings, follows or the feed;
- upload malware or try to disrupt, overload, or gain unauthorised access to the Service;
- scrape, copy or harvest data from Crumbs, or reverse-engineer the app, except where the law expressly allows;
- misuse other people's information you come across (for example through contact matching or plans).
Fair use. Crumbs is for your own personal, non-commercial use. To keep it fast and reliable for everyone, we may set reasonable limits on usage (for example on searches, imports, or other requests) and may slow down, limit, or suspend any account whose use is excessive, automated, or places a disproportionate burden or cost on the Service or our suppliers. We'll act proportionately and give notice where we reasonably can.
We may remove content or suspend accounts that breach this section.
7. Other users and social features
Crumbs is social. Content shared by other users is theirs, not ours, and we don't endorse or verify it. You can block users, leave shared lists, and control your lists' visibility. Treat other people's information respectfully and use it only for its intended purpose.
8. Third-party services and links
The Service connects to third-party services (such as maps, the Apple and Google app stores, and booking or website links). Your use of those is subject to their terms and privacy policies, and we're not responsible for them or for the accuracy of third-party content.
9. Privacy
Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle your personal data. By using Crumbs you agree to it.
10. Our intellectual property
The Crumbs app, website, branding, name, logo, design and software are owned by us or our licensors. We grant you a personal, limited, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the Service for your own non-commercial use in line with these Terms. You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, or create derivative works from any part of the Service except as the law allows.
11. Suspension and termination
- You can stop using Crumbs and delete your account at any time.
- We may suspend or end your access if you breach these Terms, to protect the Service or other users, or if we stop offering the Service.
- On termination, the licences you granted end (subject to the backup and shared-content exceptions in section 5), and any terms that should survive by their nature (ownership, disclaimers, liability) continue.
12. Disclaimers
The Service is provided “as is” and “as available.” To the extent permitted by law, we don't guarantee it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that restaurant information, recommendations or other content is accurate, complete or current.
Nothing in these Terms removes the rights you have as a consumer under the laws of England & Wales that can't be excluded.
13. Our liability
Because Crumbs is provided free of charge, and to the extent the law permits:
- we're not liable for indirect or consequential losses, loss of data or profits, or for content posted by other users or sourced from third parties;
- our total liability to you in connection with the Service is limited to £100.
We don't exclude or limit liability where it would be unlawful to do so — including for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for your mandatory consumer rights.
14. Indemnity
To the extent permitted by law, you agree to cover reasonable losses we suffer arising from your breach of these Terms, your misuse of the Service, or content you post that infringes someone else's rights or the law.
15. Changes
We may update the Service and these Terms from time to time. If we make significant changes to the Terms, we'll give reasonable notice in the app or by email. Continuing to use Crumbs after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.
16. App stores (Apple & Google)
If you download Crumbs from the Apple App Store or Google Play:
- These Terms are between you and Crumbs, not Apple or Google.
- Apple and Google have no obligation to provide support or maintenance for the app.
- To the extent permitted by law, Apple and Google aren't responsible for the app or any claims relating to it (including product-liability, legal/regulatory, or intellectual-property claims), and any applicable warranty is ours, not theirs.
- You confirm you're not in a country subject to a relevant US embargo or on a prohibited-parties list, and you'll comply with the app store's own terms.
- Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and may enforce them against you.
17. General
- Governing law: these Terms are governed by the laws of England & Wales, and disputes are subject to its courts. If you're a consumer living elsewhere in the UK, you keep the mandatory protections of where you live.
- Severability: if any part is unenforceable, the rest still applies.
- No waiver: not enforcing a right isn't a waiver of it.
- Assignment: you may not transfer your rights under these Terms; we may transfer ours if your rights aren't affected.
- Entire agreement: these Terms and the Privacy Policy are the whole agreement between us about the Service.
18. Contact
